India-Pakistan Conflict Highlights: “Bharat Will Not Be Deterred By Nuclear Blackmail,” PM Modi

Operation Sindoor News, India-Pakistan Conflict Highlights: In a strong message against state-sponsored terror, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday warned Pakistan that “nuclear blackmail” will not deter India in taking its fight against terrorism to terror hubs across the border.

In a short address to the Nation, Modi said Operation Sindoor marks a “new normal” in India’s fight against terrorism which will breach boundaries and strike at the root of state-sponsored terrorism in Pakistan.

The Prime Minister asserted that the success of India’s military strike forced Pakistan to appeal for a truce. He said India agreed to a truce because its objective of destroying terror camps and exposing the vulnerability of Pakistan’s counter-offensive had already succeeded.

While US President Donald Trump has again claimed that it was him who intervened and halted the hostilities, PM Modi said India suspended military action on an appeal by Pakistan.

Modi also made it clear that military action has only been paused on Pakistan’s promise that they would not undertake any more missions against India. He also said India’s future action will depend on how Pakistan acts in the future.

“Bharat’s message is clear – terror and talks do not go together. Terror and trade do not go together. Water and blood do not flow together. I would tell the global community – it is our strategy that if we talk to Pakistan, we will talk about terrorism. If there is dialogue with Pakistan, it will be about PoK,” he said.

India Pakistan Conflict Live Updates: Govt should explain why US mediation was allowed: Sharad Pawar, favours all-party meeting

NCP (SP) leader and former Defence Minister Sharad Pawar on Monday sought the explanation of the Central government on the “mediation” by the US in the issues concerning India and Pakistan against the backdrop of a military confrontation.

Even as Congress and other parties are demanding a special session of Parliament to discuss various developments post the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, Pawar favoured convening an all-party meeting.

“This is the first time that an American authority has spoken publicly about our domestic issue, which is not good,” Pawar told reporters, apparently referring to US President Donald Trump’s “ceasefire” announcement amid the Indo-Pak military confrontation.

Pawar said the Shimla Treaty is an exclusive agreement between the prime ministers of India and Pakistan, which maintains that there will be no third-party intervention in issues concerning the two neighbours.

“It is an agreement between the PMS of the two countries. In this context, questions are being asked about the need for US mediation. The government should respond,” he added.

He said the Shimla pact maintains that the two countries will decide amongst themselves. “How can we give space to a third country?” Pawar stressed that he was not against convening a special session of Parliament to discuss post-Pahalgam developments. (PTI)

India Pakistan Conflict Live Updates: Kangra Airport reopens as tensions with Pakistan ease amid understanding

The Kangra Airport has been reopened to resume civilian flights as tensions with Pakistan ease after the cessation of hostilities.

The Centre had earlier ordered the closure of airspace along the northern and western borders until May 15 amid the four-day conflict with Pakistan.

Amid tensions between India and Pakistan after Operation Sindoor, the Kangra Airport announced that it would remain closed for all civilian flights until May 15.The Airports Authority of India (AAI) and relevant aviation authorities issued a series of notices to Airmen (NOTAMS) announcing the temporary closure of 32 airports across Northern and Western India for all civil flight operations.

India reopened the 32 airports on Monday and restarted commercial air services. The cancellations were made on instructions from the Indian Air Force (IAF). This marks a resumption of regular aviation activity across all previously restricted areas.

The move is expected to ease air traffic congestion and benefit both domestic and international carriers. (ANI)

India Pakistan Conflict Live Updates: BJP in Kerala questions demand for special Parliament session on Operation Sindoor

The BJP in Kerala on Monday criticised the Congress party and its leader Rahul Gandhi for demanding a special session of Parliament to discuss the Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor, and related developments.

The saffron party leadership questioned why Rahul Gandhi was making such a demand, alleging that he is often absent from Parliament when it is in session.

“Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are the ones who skip Parliament when the House is in session and disappear when important legislation is being passed,” BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar said in a statement.

He also remarked that it is up to the Union government to decide whether a special session of Parliament is necessary in connection with the India-Pakistan conflict.

Chandrasekhar said India has dealt Pakistan the most severe blow since independence in recent days.

He emphasised that while India has never desired or initiated conflict, it will deliver a fitting response to any aggression.

Chandrasekhar’s comments followed letters written by opposition leaders in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding an immediate special session of Parliament to discuss the Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor, and recent developments in cross-border firing.

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, and his Rajya Sabha counterpart, Mallikarjun Kharge urged Prime Minister Modi to convene a special session of both Houses to demonstrate a united stance against terrorism. (PTI)

India Pakistan Conflict Live Updates: China denies reports of sending cargo plane with military supplies to Pakistan

The Chinese military on Monday denied reports that its largest military cargo plane has carried arms supplies to Pakistan and warned legal action against those spreading such rumours.

The People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAF) has denied that its Xi’an Y-20 military transport aircraft has taken supplies to Pakistan.

After seeing a large amount of information on the internet about a “Y-20 transporting relief supplies to Pakistan”, the Air Force said in a statement that such claims were untrue, a report on the official website of the Chinese Defence Ministry said on Monday.

The PLAF also posted several screenshots of photos and words that shared the incorrect information, with each stamped with the red word “rumour”.

“The internet is not beyond the law! Those who produce and spread military-related rumours will be held legally responsible!” the report added.

The denial by the PLA, which shares close ties with its Pakistan counterpart, was regarded as significant, coming two days after an understanding between India and Pakistan to stop all firings and military actions and Islamabad’s requirement for immediate replenishments.

According to a recent report of Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), China has emerged as the largest weapons supplier to Pakistan, accounting for 81 per cent of arms procurement of China’s all-weather ally from 2020 to 2024. The procurement included the latest jet fighters, radars, naval ships, submarines and missiles.

On the diplomatic front, China said it will play a constructive role to bring about a ceasefire between India and Pakistan.

China hopes India and Pakistan will consolidate and maintain the momentum of the ceasefire, avoid renewed conflict, and resolve differences through dialogue and negotiation, returning to the path of political settlement.

China stands ready to maintain communication with both sides and continue to play a constructive role in achieving a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire and safeguarding regional peace and stability, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian told the media last week. (PTI)

PM Modi will address the nation at around 8 PM tonight, his first since the start of Operation Sindoor, officials said.

The address comes two days after India and Pakistan reached an understanding to stop all firings and military actions on land, air and sea with immediate effect.

The understanding was reached after four days of cross-border strikes that triggered fears of a wider conflict.

Operation Sindoor was launched by India on the intervening night of May 6 and 7 to avenge the killings of 26 people in the Pahalgam terror attack. Indian armed forces targeted nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, killing over 100 terrorists.

The Indian armed forces launched a fierce counter-attack on several Pakistani military installations, including Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur and Chunian.

Radar sites at Pasrur and Sialkot aviation base were also targeted using precision munitions, causing massive damage Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai has said 35-40 Pakistani military personnel have been killed in the combat and New Delhi achieved its desired objectives.

India Pakistan Conflict Live Updates: No mention of ‘Trump, meeting, neutral site’: Chidambaram questions role of external parties in cessation of hostilities between India-Pak

Former Union Home Minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Sunday raised questions over timeline of announcements, role of external parties in the cessation of hostilities between India and Pakistan. He said it was “intriguing” that India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, during the special briefing, did not refer to mediation initiated by US President Donald Trump between the two neighbouring countries.

Referring to the “ceasefire” announced by Trump yesterday evening, Chidambaram narrated the chain of events leading to cessation of hostilities between India and Pakistan and how they unfolded, stating that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio posted on X about meeting for talks between India and Pakistan at a “neutral site”, a few minutes after Trump announced a ceasefire.

A surprising sequence of events unfolded as Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) proposed a ceasefire to India’s DGMO, which was accepted. Pakistan’s DGMO called India’s DGMO at 3:35 pm, proposing a ceasefire, which India agreed to. At 5:25 pm, President Trump tweeted about the ceasefire announcement, which seemed to precede official statements from both governments. Shortly after, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio tweeted that India and Pakistan would meet for talks at a ‘neutral site’, adding another layer to the diplomatic efforts. (ANI)

India Pakistan Conflict Updates: “Kashmir not a biblical 1000-year-old conflict”: Congress rejects Trump’s mediation offer (ANI)

After US President Donald Trump offered to mediate on the Kashmir issue between India and Pakistan, Congress MP Manish Tewari on Sunday said that the issue is not a “biblical 100-year-old conflict”, but only started 78 years ago.

In a post on X, Tewari said, “Someone in the US establishment needs to seriously educate their President @POTUS @realDonaldTrump that Kashmir is not a biblical 1000-year-old conflict. It started on October 22, 1947 - 78 years ago when Pakistan invaded the Independent State of Jammu & Kashmir that subsequently was ceded to India in’ FULL’ by Maharaja Hari Singh on October 26, 1947 that includes areas illegally occupied by Pakistan till now. How difficult is it to grasp this simple fact?”

Congress Rajya Sabha MP Jairam Ramesh also reacted and demand an all-party meeting under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister over several issues.“The Indian National Congress once again demands that an all-party meeting be called under the Chairmanship of the Prime Minister and a special session of Parliament be held on the issue of Pahalgam, Operation Sindoor and the cessation of hostilities, announced first in Washington DC and subsequently by the Governments of India and Pakistan, so that all these issues can be discussed comprehensively,” Jairam said.

“The Indian National Congress believes that the mention of a “neutral forum” for dialogue between India and Pakistan by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio raises several questions - have we abandoned the Shimla Agreement? Have we opened the door for third party mediation? The Indian National Congress would like to ask whether diplomatic channels are being reopened between India and Pakistan? What commitments have we sought from Pakistan and what have we received?” he questioned further.

India-Pakistan Conflict Live today: Any future terror act will be considered ‘act of war’ against India: Govt sources

The government decided on Saturday that India will treat any future act of terror on its soil as an “act of war” and respond accordingly, top official sources said, in a clear warning to Pakistan amid an intensifying conflict with the country following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam.

With this decision, the government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sought to draw a red line against terror incidents and makes clear that it will follow a similar military response as it has after the Pahalgam incident if terrorists linked to Pakistan target India again.

The government’s decision formalises India’s firm response to any future act of terror.

A top government source said, “Any future act of terror in India will be considered an act of war against the country and will be responded to accordingly.” Modi has chaired a number of high-level meetings, including with the security establishment, since the hostilities broke out between the two countries, and the decision was an outcome of extensive consultations.

India has blamed Pakistan-based terror groups for a series of violent incidents targeting soldiers and civilians inside its territory for a long period of time, with the April 22 killing of 26 civilians at Kashmir’s famous tourist site only the latest in such acts. - PTI
